Our family cycle paths are suitable for all ages, from children up to the elderly. They are all relatively flat and easy routes that take in some of the quieter roads on offer. At Cycling for Softies, we encourage taking in the sights and making memories, not Strava stats. We have three tours available for families, all residing in Loire.
Châteaux of the Loire
Located in central France, the Loire Valley is well known for its stunning architecture and abundant vineyards. Our Châteaux of the Loire tour is a 4-7 night trip that features gentle rides of between 13 and 23 miles, suitable for cycling with children. There are plenty of opportunities to stop and see the sights. In particular, the 12th-century fortresses scattered along the Vienne River. Beginning and ending in Chinon, this route is a circular exploration of some of the valley’s finest offerings.
The magical region of the Loire is world-famous for its châteaux, magnificent rivers and delicious wines.
Loire Valley Single Centre
On our Loire Valley Single Centre tour, you and your family have the choice to stay at either Château de Candes or Marine de Loire hotels. Château de Candes offers you and your family the freedom to structure your holiday however you wish from your base in Cândes-Saint-Martin. Meanwhile, at Marine de Loire, stay in the heart of Montsoreau, famed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Both accommodations make your time off the saddle just as enjoyable, allowing you to ride as little or as much as you need. The Loire itself is accompanied by gentle family cycle paths along the Loire a Vélo lined by many incredible abbeys and fortresses. Take a trip to the bustling cities of Saumur and Chinon to explore the wine cellars and the historic château. If you’re after a shorter route, consider cycling with children to the local Eco Museum. It features an onsite farm where the young locals are taught how to care for livestock, and they’re open to visitors who want to say hello to the farm animals.
Stay in the stunning luxury Château de Candes or the charming La Marine de Loire in the world-famous Loire Valley. This single-centre trip is ideal for couples or families.
